Dilworth was established in 1891 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  It was one of the first suburbs in Charlotte.

The first streetcars were horse-drawn and then later mule-drawn.  After the horse and mule-drawn streetcars, Edward Dilworth Latta established the electric streetcar.  The electric streetcar ran through the neighborhood.

Just five years later, the streetcars were replaced by the Charlotte Electric Railway Trolley.  The trolley stopped running in 1938, but was restored in 1996. And, today, the trolley takes passengers from the Southend to Charlotte’s urban center.

Much of Dilworth is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, known as the “Dilworth Historic District”.

The streets are adorned with bungalows and two story colonial revivals.  Mature trees and sidewalks offer visitors a wonderful way to visit and see Dilworth.
